Organic Skin Care?

Organic Skin Care?

Organic skin care.

Why does is matter?

The European Union currently bans the use of over 1,300 harmful chemicals in personal care products that are known or suspected to cause cancer, genetic mutation, or reproductive harm.

The FDA has only banned or restricted 11.

11.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Prior to a product hitting the market, European law requires safety assessments and mandatory product registration. The law also prohibits cosmetic companies from testing on animals. Canada has much better regulations than the US as well. They regularly review the safety of commonly used cosmetic ingredients and choose to regulate by prohibiting or restricting the use of hundreds of chemicals found to be harmful. A few of the harmful chemicals include formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane, and triclosan.

The U.S. does not currently regulate or prohibit the use of any of the harmful chemicals just mentioned. In fact, it is apparent that there’s not much regulation going on at all.

That is why it is so important to do your research and look out for yourself. I encourage you to dig deeper. Our agencies put in place to do so have repeatedly made it clear that they won’t do it for us.

Stay vigilant, green warriors!
